Hedge End Town Council's Albert Road Cemetery,officially one of the best UK cemeteries. Cemeteries provide a very important public amenity and Albert Road Cemetery in Hedge End has been recognised as one of the country's best green spaces with a prestigious Green Flag Awards. Green Flag Awards recognise and reward the best parks and open spaces, including cemeteries, throughout the country. Albert Road Cemetery stood out after impressing the judges with its excellent use of green space, well-maintained facilities and high standard of safety and security.
Denise Lowth, Deputy Town Clerk, Hedge End Town Council stated: 'The Town Council's vision and aim is to maintain the highest quality service and provision to Parishioners, not only for an essential amenity at the most sensitive and demanding times but also in providing a peaceful and tranquil place of rest that can be visited for its beauty, wildlife and quiet contemplation. The Town Council is immensely honoured and proud to receive the prestigious Green Flag Award, which will enhance the environmental, ecological, bio-diversity and conservation qualities of this site and emphasise the value of its future and heritage'.
The awards could not come at a better time as GreenSpaces Love Parks week takes place between July 24 and August 1, during which people will be encouraged to enjoy the nations parks and green spaces.

At the Annual General Meeting of the Hedge End Town Council held on Wednesday, 19th May 2010, Cllr. Val Houghton was elected Chairman of Hedge End Town Council for the year 2010/2011 and Cllr. Jane Welsh as Vice-Chairman of the Town Council.

Hedge End's ever popular paddling pool is now open again. The paddling pool is available for all and is situated on the Recreation Ground along St Johns Road and Bursledon Road. The Paddling Pool is open daily from 10.30am to 5.00pm. A perfect place to take children and enjoy a special day out.
